Claude Monet is the eighth coin in the series and commemorates the work of the greatest impressionist painter. The obverse of the coin depicts a fragment of the work entitled "Woman with an Umbrella" , which was completed by the artist in 1886. The reverse shows the likeness of Monet himself and a fragment of one of his other paintings, "The Japanese Bridge", completed in 1899.
